I chose to work UNM as an institution with a mission - commitment to quality care of all patients with an emphasis on the under-served. Having been trained in a city hospital tradition, I have always preferred to work with patients of diverse backgrounds who may have minimal to no resources. I continue to find satisfaction in providing excellent care to the women we see daily in our clinics and I enjoy learning from them about cultural differences while sharing our common experiences as women. In my short time in New Mexico I am still getting to know the strengths and weaknesses of the services we offer. I plan to work with my colleagues  to continue to improve our management of  the many  diabetic  moms we care for in a group prenatal program we are developing, and I would be happy to utilize my expertise and experience in  the care of mothers with substance use disorders in an MFM clinic setting.
