Rayburn, William Professor

Positions

Dr. William Rayburn is the Randolph V. Seligman Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center since 1998. He is a nationally recognized Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist and has written over 500 peer-review journal articles and abstracts for national scientific meetings dealing primarily with drug effects on the developing fetus. He has authored or edited several textbooks. Dr. Rayburn is clinically active by supervising or privately caring for many patients with complicated pregnancies. Bill has also served on several national advisory and editorial boards and as a member of several distinguished medical societies. He is the recipient of several awards for his teaching and has been funded continuously for his research. In addition to serving on various national committees and leadership positions, he is the Founder of the Workforce Studies and Planning Initiative at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His most recent texts include “The Obstetrician-Gynecologist Workforce in the United States: Facts, Figures, and Implications” and “Changing Landscape of Academic Women’s Health Care in the United States.” His current project deals with “Changing Diversity of Faculty in Obstetrics and Gynecology.”
