Dr. Helitzer is recognized for excellence in community-based research with diverse populations experiencing health disparities. Her seminal contributions include ethnographic studies on health beliefs, obesity and diabetes prevention in American Indian school children, and translational challenges in integrating HPV vaccine into primary care. She has been the PI or significant Co-I on over $65M in extramural funding from federal, state and non-profit agencies. She is author of three books, nine book chapters and 66 peer-reviewed publications.
