Aboytes received her dental hygiene degree from Oxnard College and completed her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene at UNM in 2004. She joined UNM as part-time faculty in 2004 as a dental hygiene clinical instructor. She joined the faculty full-time after receiving her master’s degree in dental hygiene from UNM in 2008.

Aboytes is conducting research regarding dental local anesthesia techniques.
