Robyn has been a Midwife at UNM since 1999. She came to UNM as a graduate of the UNM Nurse-Midwifery Program. Prior to becoming a midwife, she worked for 10 years as a Labor and Delivery Nurse in a variety of settings in New York, California and New Mexico.
Robyn was born in New Jersey and spent her childhood in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil prior to returning to New Jersey. She went to the University of Rochester for a B.S. in Nursing.
She was introduced to Midwifery working at an in-hospital birth center at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Midwifery interested her because of the philosophy of respect for women's dignity and voice in their health care, as well as the belief that the process of pregnancy and childbirth is normal (unless proven otherwise).
It is a great privilege to be with women and their families as they work to give birth.
Having been at UNM for her career has also given her the opportunity to participate in research projects related to perineal outcomes, and the education of midwives and physicians.
In her spare time, Robyn enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, travel, live music, skiing, and hiking with her dogs.
