Having worked at the HSC since 1964 in a variety of positions including medical assistant, medical student and resident and then faculty, it is nice to be emeritus and just do fun things like taking care of patients I have known for 40+ years.  One of the issues I have felt passionate about is helping my patients transition from one gender to their preferred one.  I have enjoyed being freed from attending meetings after many years of daily committee meetings when I was full time.  I have been very passionate about teaching clinical skills over the years, especially learning to listen to your patients.  I think I have learned how to do that over the years as well.
