Hunter received her B.S. and MS. Pharm degrees from the University of Arkansas for the Medical Sciences, Little Rock, Arkansas and her PhD and Master's degrees from the University of Minnesota. Prior to becoming faculty at the UNM in 2016, Dr. Hunter was a professor at Wingate University School of Pharmacy. She also has held administrative and faculty positions at Howard University, Xavier University, University of Louisiana, Nova Southeastern and University of Oklahoma.
