Yu, Victoria Lecturer I

Victoria Yu, DNP, JD, RN, is a lecturer I at The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing. Since 2003, she has had a varied career in nursing, risk management and medical-legal consulting. Her nursing experience is in medical-surgical care, case management, home health care and nursing education. She has been involved in nursing education since 2005, focusing on medical-legal issues, nursing administration, medical-surgical nursing and community health. She forged her knowledge of medical-legal issues in the area of risk management and served as a testifying witness as well as an advocate for patient-related issues, especially patient safety and health care compliance. Her medical-legal consulting was in the area of domestic violence and child maltreatment issues. She consulted on cases in the district and federal courts. Yu joined the UNM College of Nursing as part of the Veterans Affairs Nursing Academic Partnership to work collaboratively with the College and the New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health Care System.

She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Executive Organizational Leadership from the University of Nevada-Reno, a Juris Doctorate from Oak Brook College of Law and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNM.
