Tollestrup, Kristine Professor

Positions

Dr. Tollestrup is Professor, Director of the Graduate Education Programs, and Interim Director of the Undergraduate Education Programs in the College of Population Health. She earned her doctorate in behavioral ecology from the University of California, Berkeley and her MPH in epidemiology from the University of Washington. Dr. Tollestrup has more than 30 years of experience as an epidemiologist and has worked in several different state health departments as well as the Indian Health Service. Her research interests are in the areas of waterbourne disease epidemiology and maternal child health epidemiology, and she has overseen the evaluation of several community-based intervention projects. She currently leads two training programs for public health practitioners funded by HRSA.  The Maternal Child Health Public Health Training Institute provides graduate level online public health training for MCH practitioners around the state.  Dr. Tollestrup also leads the University of New Mexico Community Training Site for the Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center which focuses on developing and providing online trainings for the public health workforce.
