Anderson received a B.S. degree in Biology (1988) and a B.S. degree in Pharmacy (1991) from the University of New Mexico. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree (1995) from the University of Texas at Austin. Following his Pharm. D. degree he completed a 2-year pharmacotherapy residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio and the South Texas Veterans Medical Center in San Antonio.
Anderson's research interests are in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, specifically as it relates to heart failure and primary and secondary ASCVD prevention, and health outcomes, particularly as they pertain to advanced pharmacy practice. Additionally, Dr. Anderson has ongoing research projects assessing the effects of smoking on levels of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid levels and endothelial function.
