Thompson, Todd Assistant Professor

The focus of research in our laboratory is cancer pharmacogenomics, evaluating the effectiveness of both prevention and treatment modalities for breast and prostate cancer. Cell culture and rodent preclinical models are used in our research to examine the effectiveness of pharmaceutical and nutritional strategies to help combat cancer. For example, the effectiveness of vitamin E as a preventive and therapeutic modality for prostate cancer is being investigated. Also, pathways of cellular differentiation are under investigation to assess their potential value in cancer prevention and treatment. Finally, studies are designed to test the effectiveness of these modalities for cancer prevention and treatment in people utilizing pharmacogenomic-based clinical analyses.
