Shannon, Tamara PNP Concentration Coordinator and Lecturer I

Positions

Tamara Shannon, DNP, RN, CPNP, is the pediatric nurse practitioner concentration coordinator and a lecturer at The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing. She has been a faculty member at UNM since 2015, teaching primarily pediatric courses in the advanced practice registered nurse programs. Before joining the faculty, she taught in the registered nurse program at Pima Medical Institute and worked in primary care as a pediatric nurse practitioner.

Shannon retired from the Air Force in 2011, after 20 years of service caring for families in many aspects of maternal-child health, including inpatient labor, delivery, postpartum, nursery and neonatal intensive care.

Shannon received a Doctor of Nursing Practice with a sub-specialty in nursing education from University of South Alabama, a Master of Science with a concentration in pediatric health from Wright State University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Institute of Technology.
