Takeda received a bachelor of science degree (1998) and a master of pharmaceutical sciences degree (2000) from Nagasaki University in Japan. She learned Japanese traditional herbal medicine (Kampo medicine) in Japan while she worked as a clinical pharmacist. She received a Pharm.D. from Roseman University Health Sciences (formerly known as the University of Southern Nevada) in 2009 and a master of science degree in clinical research from the University of Kansas in 2013.
