Dr. Shah uses community-partnered research to address many health disparity issues affecting our nation’s minorities, particularly Zunis. His work brought an exercise facility to the Zuni Pueblo to promote health education and help alleviate the burden of obesity, diabetes and renal disease. Now, through PCORI-supported research, Dr. Shah and the community are studying whether home-based, peer-led care can prevent chronic kidney disease and decrease the incidence of end-stage renal disease in Zunis. His research is disseminated in 47 peer-reviewed articles.
