John B Bettler, MD, FAAFP is an assistant professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of New Mexico. He received his MD from Loyola University Chicago in 2002, and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of New Mexico in 2005, receiving the institution’s first Certificate of Public Health at the same time. After almost a decade practicing broad-scope Family Medicine for the Indian Health Service in Zuni, New Mexico, he joined our faculty at the University of New Mexico in 2015.
Since returning to UNM, Bettler’s clinical practice is at the Southeast Heights Center for Family & Community Health in Albuquerque’s International District. He became Medical Director of this clinic in October 2015. He is also involved with the Milagro clinic and the Maternal and Child Health Service. Bettler’s interests include cross-cultural medicine, women’s health, and medical education.
