Getting teenagers to say no to sex, drugs, and violence in the new millennium. Academic Article Review uri icon

abstract

  • In the new millennium, teenagers will continue to engage in a wide variety of activities that are not healthy for them (e.g., "sex, drugs, and violence"). Although there is a widely held perception that these are new, modern problems, they are not. Appreciating what is normal and abnormal behavior and thinking during adolescence, controlling media influences, and giving children and teens appropriate and effective drug and sex education will help in understanding adolescent behavior and potentially helping them to avoid some of their high-risk behaviors.
