Katzman directs the University of New Mexico Pain Center, where patients from throughout New Mexico are able to obtain pain, addiction and mental health consultation. She is originally from Los Angeles and relocated with her family to the UNM School of Medicine in 1997.

She graduated from Stanford University and the Yale University School of Medicine. Her residency and fellowship training at UCLA were in the areas of neurology and neurorehabilitation. Katzman specializes in headaches, myocardial pain and spasticity.
