I am originally from the Chicago area, but Albuquerque is now home. I've had a life long interest in Midwifery and birth, but it was solidified while volunteering in Ghana, West Africa in a women's health outreach clinic. My nursing career began at UNM hospital as a RN on labor and delivery in 2006 and I graduated from the UNM Midwifery program in 2011. UNM feels like my second home and I am honored to work with an amazing and dedicated group. I am passionate about supporting women and helping them to feel empowered in their healthcare and childbirth decisions. I am also dedicated to improving health equity for families of color. My work with pregnant people and their families has shown me the importance of providing trauma informed care and increasing access to mental health services. To help fill this need I have begun the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program at UNM and will eventually be incorporation counseling and psychiatric medication management in to my practice. My spare time is spent with my husband Tim, our 5 children and our first grandchild who was born at UNM and I was honored to catch! Whenever possible I love to travel and explore the world.
