Littles, Tamara Certified Nurse-Midwife

I am originally from Chicago, but have lived in Albuquerque for 9 years now. I've had a life long interest in Midwifery and birth, but it was solitified while volunteering in Ghana, West Africa in a women's health outreach clinic. At the time I was working as a massage therapist and specializing in prenatal massage. I then began the path to become a nurse, then nurse-midwife. I began my career here at UNM hospital as a RN on labor and delivery and have been here since 2006. UNM feels like my second home and I am honored to work with an amazing and dedicated group.

I am passionate about supporting women and helping them to feel empowered in their healthcare and childbirth decisions. I am also active in the American College of Nurse Midwives of Color Committe, working to bring awareness to health disparites among women of color and encouraging other women of color to consider careers in healthcare and Midwifery.

My spare time is spent with my partner and our 4 children and 3 dogs. I enjoy traveling, movies, concerts and being outdoors.
