Nemoto, Edwin Professor

Positions

Nemoto received his BS in zoology from The George Washington University and his doctorate in physiology, biochemistry and radiation physics from Rutgers University. He has held fellowships and faculty appointments at the University of California and University of Pittsburgh. Nemoto is a highly published researcher with years of research and grant awards attributed to him. He oversees and assists the Department’s research and enhances the education of the program’s resident physicians.

Research Interests

  • Stroke (defining the penumbra, pathogenesis and therapy)
  • Traumatic brain injury and cerebrovascular accidents (predicting outcome, pathogenesis and therapy)
  • Brain cross-frequency coupling ​(functional connectivity, brain injury, psychological states and spreading depression)
  • Mechanisms of membrane lipid modulation (of membrane enzymes and membrane receptors)
