Dr. Sava is board certified in Family Medicine. After graduating from Albany Medical College, he completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut. Following residency Dr. Sava practice with the Indian Health Service on the Mescalero Apache reservation in New Mexico and the Hopi Reservation in northern Arizona.

Dr. Sava is also with First Choice Community Healthcare and practices at its Mountain & Valley Regional Health Center located in Edgewood, NM. He is Professor of Family & Community Medicine and has helped lead the Department’s effort to create a collaborative “Health Commons” model of service and learning in collaboration with First Choice Community Healthcare and the New Mexico Department of Health in the Albuquerque South Valley Community.

He has been married to his wife Constance Sava for thirty years; they have four children, Eugene, Kateri, Claire and Joseph.
