Samudio-Ruiz, Sabrina L Research Assistant Professor

Samudio-Ruiz holds a BA degree in molecular cellular and developmental biology from the University of Colorado Boulder (1999) and a PhD in biomedical sciences from the University of New Mexico (2009).

Research Interests

Samudio-Ruiz’s interests include intracellular signaling pathways, changes in gene expression and epigenetics, particularly how changes in these processes affect cancer progression. She is currently investigating epigenetic alterations and corresponding changes in gene expression associated with the development of platinum resistance in ovarian cancer cells, a major obstacle in clinical effectiveness that occurs in a large majority of patients. Dr. Samudio-Ruiz is particularly interested in the role of the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor, which she previously showed to be a novel regulator of the epigenetic mechanism DNA methylation.
