Barbara Overman, PhD, MPH, RN, CNM, is a clinician educator - associate professor at The University of New Mexico College of Nursing. She studies access to education for rural and underserved populations and systemic issues impacting rural maternity and midwifery care. Her interests include economic and social determinants of health, culture and health care and innovative models of service delivery for women and infants. She is currently working on a funded project addressing statewide perinatal oral health improvement and is working collaboratively to formalize and disseminate a Navajo cultural safety model based on completed research.
Overman received her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from The Universtiy of Colorado School of Nursing, her Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Delaware.
