LeeAnna Vargas, MSN, RN, is a lecturer I at The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing. She is an alumna of the College and has served the state of New Mexico in a variety of nursing positions. Prior to joining UNM, Vargas worked as an administrator in home health and hospice.
Currently, she teaches in the Pre-Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and the Registered Nurse (RN) to BSN program. As an instructor, she focuses on community health, health policy, quality and health systems. As part of her work at the College, Vargas helps to facilitate international community health experiences for the Pre-Licensure BSN students in Mexico and Costa Rica. She is currently working with the UNM School of Medicine Office of Education as a Medical Education Scholar and continues to work on research relative to student success and nursing curriculum development.
Vargas received her Master of Science in Nursing, with a concentration in nursing administration, from New Mexico State University and she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNM.
