Bleske received his B.S. degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota. Following his Pharm. D. degree he completed a 2 year cardiovascular fellowship at Hartford Hospital, Hartford CT. Prior to becoming faculty at the UNM in 2015, Dr. Bleske was a tenured professor at the University of Michigan-College of Pharmacy. He was a faculty member for 27 years and is now professor emeritus.
Bleske's research has been in the cardiovascular field, with a focus on heart failure, and has included both basic and clinical research. His current interests include: genomics, epi-genomics, application of a novel clinical tool (TOM-C HF) for heart failure assessment in the community setting, and environmental toxicology including evaluation of the effects of uranium, vanadium and other heavy metals on cardiovascular health.
