Chambers-Kersh, Laura S. Assistant Professor

Positions

Chambers-Kersh is an assistant professor of family and community medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She received her MD from the Ohio State University in 2003, and completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Minnesota North Memorial in 2003. After working two years with the Indian Health Service in Shiprock, in 2009 she completed a fellowship in obstetrics with the University of Texas Medical Branch in Austin. Areas of interest for Chambers-Kersh are women’s and global health, as well as nutrition. She helped found a multi-disciplinary medical home clinic for survivors of human trafficking in Austin, and collaborated with the New Mexico Office of African American Affairs on a project looking to use group prenatal care to decrease infant mortality. She has worked abroad in a variety of countries including Malawi, Liberia, and Thailand.
